Lithium Half‐Salen Complexes: Synthesis, Structural Characterization and Studies as Catalysts for rac ‐Lactide Ring‐Opening Polymerization

چکیده

Seven lithium complexes supported by sterically and electronically diverse phenoxyimine ligands were synthesized characterized X-ray diffraction, NMR spectroscopy elemental microanalysis. These show high activity (kobs ≤7.43×10−2 s−1) for rac-lactide ring-opening polymerization (ROP) in the presence of co-initiator benzyl alcohol (BnOH), with exception Li4 which features an unusual polymeric ladder structure. Overall, catalyst correlates to aggregation state; catalysts low states display increased propagation rates attributed improved metal accessibility kinetic mobility. The nature ligand substituents solvent influence both solid- solution-state. While can initiate ROP without BnOH, addition this significantly increases rate switching mechanism from a coordination-insertion activated monomer pathway, changing resultant poly(lactic acid) architecture cyclic linear.

Complexes of Mg, Ca and Zn as homogeneous catalysts for lactide polymerization.

Interest in the utility of polylactide as a commodity polymer has increased significantly in recent years due to numerous environmental advantages over conventional petrochemically derived plastics. As such, the development of novel catalyst systems for the ring opening polymerization of lactide has seen tremendous progress in the past decade. In particular, divalent metals (i.e. Mg, Ca and Zn)...

Magnesium Pyrazolyl-Indolyl Complexes as Catalysts for Ring-Opening Polymerization of L-Lactide

A series indole-based ligand precursors, PzRIndH (R = H, PzHIndH; R = Me, PzMeIndH; R = t-Bu, PztBuIndH; and R = Ph, PzPhIndH), have been synthesized via copper-catalyzed N-arylation (for PzHIndH) or the Bartoli indole synthesis (for PzMeIndH, PztBuIndH and PzPhIndH) reactions with moderate to high yield. Reactions of these ligand precursors with 0.7 equivalent of MgBu2 in THF (for 1) or hexane...

Ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone by lithium piperazinyl-aminephenolate complexes: synthesis, characterization and kinetic studies.

A series of lithium complexes were prepared from 2(N-piperazinyl-N'-methyl)-2-methylene-4-R'-6-R-phenols ([ONN](RR')) and characterized through elemental analysis, (1)H and (13)C{(1)H} NMR spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography. Treatment of the ligands with n-butyllithium afforded {Li[ONN](RR')}(3) [R = Me, R' = (t)Bu, (1); R = R' = (t)Bu (2); R = R' = (t)Am, (3), (t)Am = C(CH(3))(2)CH(2)CH(3...

Copper(II) complexes with imino phenoxide ligands: synthesis, characterization, and their application as catalysts for the ring-opening polymerization of rac-lactide

ABSTRACT Four new copper complexes based on bidentate imino phenoxide ligands were synthesized and characterized by IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, ESI mass spectrometry, single crystal X-ray diffraction, and electrochemistry. The crystal structures revealed that the copper(II) atoms are surrounded by phenolate oxygen and imine nitrogen atoms of two ligands in a distorted square-planar geometry. The e...
